TODAY LIFESTYLE AND HEALTH CHALLENGES


Most of the world population follow an unhealthy lifestyle. Hence, sometime they encounter illness, disability and even death. Problems like metabolic diseases, joint and skeletal problems, heart diseases, hypertension, overweight, and so on, can be caused by an unhealthy lifestyle.


Unhealthy lifestyle diseases are defined as diseases linked with the way people live their life. This is usually caused by alcohol, drugs and smoking abuse as well as lack of physical activities and unhealthy diet. Diseases that mostly linked to our lifestyle are; heart disease, stroke, obesity, overweight, diabetes and even hypertension. Such illnesses also shortened the duration of human life and the quality of life.











According to "WHO" about 62 % of related factors to individual health and quality of life are related to individual lifestyle. Most people follow an unhealthy lifestyle, mainly of a sedentary lifestyle. Eating beyond our body requirement and not balancing it. Unfortunately, unhealthy lifestyle habits link us to diseases such as, metabolic disorders, genetic disorders, heart diseases, obesity, overweight, hypertension, joint problems, and diabetes etc.

DIETARY INTAKE: Poor diet and its consequences like obesity is the common health problem in different societies. Unhealthy lifestyle can be measured by BMI. Unhealthy eating lifestyle leads to the nutrition problems like using non-organic food, fast foods and poor foods, increasing problems like obesity and heart diseases. 


EXERCISE ROUTINE: For treating general health problems, the exercise is included in lifestyle. The daily exercise along with a healthy diet increases the life span. Some studies strain on the relation of active life style but with happiness.


MEDICATION ABUSE: Using of medication like, self-treatment, sharing medication, use of medications without doctor prescription and    unnecessary drugs usages.


SLEEP: Sleep is one of the basic of healthy life. Sleeping disorders have several social, psychological, economical reasons. Lifestyle may effect on sleep and sleep has a clear influence on our mental and physical health.


MODERN TECHNOLOGY: Advanced technology like "IT" facilitates our life. But misuse of technology may result in unpleasant consequences. Like using of computer, mobile and other devices up to midnight, may effect on the routine sleep and it may disturb sleep. Addiction to use of laptop and mobile phone is related to depression symptoms.


SUBSTANCE ABUSE: The "WHO" definition about the substance abuse, Substance abuse refers to the harmful or hazardous use of psychotropic substances, including alcohol and some illicit drugs. Physical and mental changes that develop after repeated substance use and that usually include a strong desire to take the drug, trouble in controlling its use, preserve in its use despite harmful results, giving a higher priority to drug use than to other healthy activities and obligations.


RECREATION: Leisure pass time also one of the important factor of lifestyle, which people usually ignore. With good organized planning and healthy recreation bring positive consequences in our physical and mental health.

Stick with nature, by eating organic foods; avoid synthetic products, processed meat and other processed food products.  Include organic dark colored fruits and organic vegetables in your daily diet. Drink plenty of water, avoid too much caffeinated drinks. Sun rays are also good for health. Inhale fresh air, walk and exercise on daily basis, rest your body and try to healthy recreation.
